1. Selection of resolution
The resolution of the AOI automatic optical detector should be measured by the size of the pixel as a criterion, that is, the spatial resolution. The size of the pixel is not a criterion for judging the detection capability of the AOI automatic optical detector. To be precise, the size of the pixel is a factor that determines the size of the pixel per unit area. If the unit area is different, no matter how high the pixels are, there is no comparability. On the contrary, if this AOI automatic optical detector uses a 2 million-pixel camera, if its FOV is 24*32 microns, then its resolution is only 20 microns, so although it has higher pixels, it can only detect components with a package size of more than 0402. Generally speaking, for PCBA boards with components of 0402 or more package sizes, the resolution of the AOI automatic optical detector is required to be at least 20 microns. For the detection of PCBA boards with a package size of more than 0201, the resolution of AOI automatic optical detector shall be at least 15 microns, and for the detection of PCBA boards with a package size of more than 01005, the resolution of AOI shall be at least 10 microns.
2. Selection of special functions
If you want to test the PCBA with multiple boards, you must select the AOI automatic optical detector with springboard function, that is, the AOI automatic optical detector with area selection function.
If you use the AOI automatic optical detector as a quality process control, then when you choose the AOI automatic optical detector, you must choose the AOI automatic optical detector with RPC function, that is, the AOI automatic optical detector with real-time process control.
3. Selection of CAD
At present, most AOI automatic optical detectors have CAD data import function, but the use of this function is not very efficient for PCBA boards with fewer devices, while the use of PCBA boards with more components can achieve twice the result with half the effort.

China's AOI automatic optical detector software technology has been at the peak of the world, in this sense, the comprehensive performance of domestic AOI automatic optical detector has been in the forefront of the world, but there are still some gaps in the manufacturing process. But on the whole, AOI technology is not very mature.
